Fantasia

July 12, 2008

The current Rockin’ Chair Writers prompt asks visitors to “Tell us what’s really on your mind”.
I have received in my inbox a stunningly rich and beautiful poem from an Italian writer. His name is Il Viandante del Sud, and I would like to share his poem with you here now. Il Viandante del Sud has translated his poem to English and I think he would be very appreciative of your comments and critique. Go ahead and let him know what is on your mind when you finish reading.

Pink oars
On black and white seas
Step on the resonant surface
Brighting of sunset’ colours
Silent lake in fall
When leaves sadly greet
The luxuriant crown
They lay down on grassy cloaks
Where the hard-working ant is heard
Or the generous ladybird walks
Everything is clamour and music
Crossing of existences, handovers
They draw an eternal picture
Like the arpeggios and arabesques
Of my soul.

Ghost of a Promise

July 12, 2008

The latest image from Rick Mobbs at Mine Enemy Grows Older has prompted some fantastic interpretations. Do check them out. Thanks also to Rick and his community of writers and poets for providing me with the practice and the tools to visit the Powerhouse Museum without a camera.

Impaled now
between rage and sorrow
against the random marblings of time

Born to be loved
then snatched from our embrace
the scar upon my heart did never heal

Do you hear?
rhyme and meter muted
whispers from the ghost of a promise
