Ghost of a Promise

The latest image from Rick Mobbs at Mine Enemy Grows Older has prompted some fantastic interpretations. Do check them out. Thanks also to Rick and his community of writers and poets for providing me with the practice and the tools to visit the Powerhouse Museum without a camera.

Impaled now
between rage and sorrow
against the random marblings of time

Born to be loved
then snatched from our embrace
the scar upon my heart did never heal

Do you hear?
rhyme and meter muted
whispers from the ghost of a promise

Brad, I like it a lot. And can identify with the feelings. The varied takes on the pieces are so interesting, show me the work in new ways. Things I maybe never would have thought of but that I can see now, once the poem or story is written and shared. Thanks.

Thanks Rick. Your work has opened up a lot of spaces in my mind that I wasn’t aware of previously, and given me new ways to interpret those things that I thought I understood.

I was roaming… this is beautiful. It made me feel so sad and has a definite pause which becomes a solid being in its own right. Really beautiful.
