Grief is sticky – stale banana bread crumbs – washed down with hospital coffee. Grief is having to choose decapitated tulips – in cardboard boxes – instead of teddy bears – with pink or blue ribbons. GRIEF is obese
in the presence of emaciation. Grief is shared, but it doesn’t rhyme with anything, because
a)grief is lonely
b)grief is selfish
c)grief is compartmentalised

Grief always feels as if nobody has ever grieved this intensely before… because its existence makes is impossible for the world and life to go on.
And yet somehow, the world does go on. And we are swept along with it, slowly shedding tears of grief and leaving them behind, until it becomes a far lighter burden, even if one that never vanishes entirely.

Hi Brad, been there, done that. Here is my response to yours:
Grief is terrible
grief is sad feeling alone
grief does rhyme with brief
grief is when unloved
grief’s help is “God loves you still”
grief is brief we hope
A lawyer friend cheered me up and got me going again by the reminder in the fifth verse. I tell others, sometimes it helps. And it helps me when there is nothing else to say, I relate by grief and what my friend told me. He prefficed it with the word “Remember.”
Thank you for answering on my original blog with the ‘car read’ bit. I plan to do that quite often over there.
I have a little poem on the One Single Impression this week at http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/ (linked above).
..
Thanks for your response Jim. Grief is often brief in hindsight. Cheers.

Immaculate thought prosepoem. A distance between the emotion and the words that makes them ring like bells. You are a great technician and a passionate thinker, a poet.

and had i never experienced it in its truest form,, i would not have believed that it was indeed the formidable opponent it proved itself to be… i am a warrior,, i am a hard ass,, and it brought me to my knees…. no other emotion,, or set of emotions has ever done that to me… never.
